The District 7505 Annual Vocational Service Award

At the upcoming annual District Conference on May 3, 2025, our District Governor will confer the District’s Annual Vocational Service Award to a Rotarian that through projects or actions in the past two Rotary years (2023-2025) has best exemplified the Rotary concept of Vocational Service, to encourage and foster the following precepts [“Rotary Vocational Precepts”]

  •        High ethical standards in business and professions
  •        Recognition of the worthiness of all useful professions
  •        Dignifying each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

The possibilities are endless. Boiled down to its essence Vocational Service is putting our training, ethics and skills to use in our communities. In essence, by Vocational Service, we are “paying forward” the value of our training and skills, which have been the product of our own hard work and the support of others.  Here are some examples how Rotarians could achieve these goals:

  •        Mentoring others, especially younger people or those in need
  •        Helping train or teach skills that are useful to the individual, to the community, or to society generally.
  •        Service projects that further education or training.
  •        Any project that in an innovative and sustainable way puts members’ vocational or professional skills to use in a way that shares and promotes them in others

club presidents, this is an opportunity to promote your club
and your members
We all know the Rotarians who go “above and beyond” in their communities. This is a great way to recognize these “unsung heroes”. We encourage you to recognize them on your Facebook page or other social media, through local newspapers or media, and on your website if you have one.  If your nominee is selected, even better, as your club will get lots of great exposure that you can use to build your visibility and reputation.
